I am going to be teaching an electroforming class. I have had many requests for a class for using botanical/natural/found items as well as sculpted forms for electroforming jewelry elements. I am still working out all the details of the class...as well as an economical studio set up for electroforming so you can continue your discoveries when you get home to your own studio.
If you would like to be included in the mailing list for the class, please send me your name and contact info and I will let you know what is happening as the planning for exciting workshop progresses! Below is a sideshow of several of my electroformed creations!
Well, after talking with some beadmaking friends, I decided to take the plunge and get back to selling some of my work on ebay. I sold my lampwork beads there for ten years before moving to etsy. Check out my new offerings on ebay. The shipping is a little less and there will no doubt be some great deals on my beads until all of my customers realize that I am back on ebay! I will still have some offerings on etsy but some of their new policies regarding "handmade" work were not supportive of craftspeople...so, check it out, let me know what you think!
I have always loved collecting rocks and fossils. This was a lot easier when I lived in the Southwest. Here in the northern part of Puget Sound, close to the Canadian border, shells, ferns, sea creatures and their discarded shell home ares plentiful, but aside from some fern fossils, have not seen many fossils at all.
This year, I took some time to attend the gem and mineral shows in Tucson. So many treasures. The walrus fossil pieces here are some of my favorites. They were gathered in Alaska by a family from Seattle, I realized while I was there, that the cut and polished stones really don't appeal to me very much. One of the coolest places we visited was the miner's show, where a bunch of "rock hounders" were showing their goods. Great stories about where the stones were found, I learned a lot from hanging out there.
I haven't decided what do with these yet..any ideas?
This is just the beginning for this bead. After annealing overnight in my kiln, I will work it into a most interesting shard on a flat lap lapidary grinder. Will post the resulting bead when done!

One of my brother's friends recently opened a store, New Mexico Chile Products. As a transplanted New Mexican, I always appreciate a chile fix. Randy and his wife, Colleen recently sent me some Sadie's Salsa from their new store. Nice and hot, just the way we like it! Thanks Randy and Colleen! Check them out for red chile powder, green chile powder, chile snacks of all kinds!

It was great spending a week in Tucson. It wasn't just the gems. rocks, findings and fellow jewelry enthusiasts, but the food, weather, and museums were wonderful as well. Here are a few of the sights that caught my eye!
